OTR works and has been working for years. OMEMO is supported by two clients I don't and won't use and no one I know uses.
That's entirely besides the point though. Even if OMEMO was the absolute ultimate encryption scheme like you're saying, editing an existing feature request to request something else is not "doing it together," it's just antisocial.
